Right after that, the victim showed up and took possession of his belongings. A comical conversation then ensued where the thief (who had already tried to convince us that it was his backpack) attempted to convince the victim that he knew precisely what was in the bag: a laptop. When this didn't work, he tried to convince the victim that he only needed $60 to eat. Unfortunately, this fell on deaf ears too. After a few more such entreaties, he asked if he could go. As it so happened, none of us were eager for that to happen so he stood there guarded by the three of us.
