Antitrust Legislation
[edit | edit source]- iRobot was going to be rescued by Amazon but that was blocked by the European Commission and there were indications from the US that they would block as well. Went bankrupt and fire sold to Shenzhen Picea Robotics leaving exactly zero US companies in the robotic vacuum industry
- Spirit Airlines was going to be rescued by Frontier Airlines but that was beaten by a bid by JetBlue who were then promptly blocked from doing so. Went bankrupt, restructured, went bankrupt again.
- Rite Aid was going to be rescued by Walgreens but the US FTC wasn't going to let them so they dropped it. Walgreens bought their favourite stores for a quarter of the price of the acquisition, and Rite Aid went bankrupt, restructured, and went bankrupt again. Walgreens got to keep the good stores, Rite Aid got to die, and the opioid lawsuit claimants against Rite Aid went to the back of the line at bankruptcy as unsecured creditors.
