{{Tweet | name = Roshan George | username = arjie | replyto = bpodgursky | text = This admin can’t keep planes in the air, warplanes on their carriers, there’s flies eating the cows, and the US has lost control of the world. If ever an American President lost the Mandate of Heaven it would look like this. The world is replete with omens. | date = July 18, 2025 | ID = 1946108267002052675 }} Before the election, I thought [[Blog/2024-09-14/Politics|it might be a good idea for Trump to be President]], resting entirely on the idea that with the Tech Right on his team, it would be possible for him to be led to the right place. I was hoping that these billionaire guys on the right were using Trump as a vehicle to accelerate America back into dynamism. Unfortunately, for that idea, the worst-case scenario has played out. Trump is definitely a degrowther. He opposes loosening housing regulations, has crazy tariffs on everyone (including allies), has added a few dozen new regulations on wind and solar, and exploiting the office of the White House for personal enrichment. The icing on top is that now he's [https://luna.house.gov/posts/rep-anna-paulina-luna-refers-federal-reserve-chair-jerome-powell-for-criminal-investigation-over-false-testimony having Jerome Powell investigated on criminal charges because he wouldn't lower interest rates]. It turns out that Trump was using the Tech Right as a vehicle into the Presidency and the tech guys who supported the idea are the suckers. The tweet I made to Ben is a joke, of course. I don't think we instantaneously regressed in terms of skill. These things take time to improve or ruin so clearly the planes crashing, jets falling in the ocean, and stuff like that has nothing to do with any Presidential Administration. What does have everything to do with all the stuff going on now is that the Executive Orders written by the President seem kinda not that useful to bring us into the future. In some sort of Worst of Both Worlds situation, we now have Bernie Sanders advocating against H-1Bs. So we've got a Republican President who is ruining the nation, and I didn't even get an opposition that is bent on helping me personally. If I made a bad trade-off there should be some win. There hasn't been. At some point, you've got to look back and say, "Yep, I bamboozled myself with no reason. I'm an idiot". So this is that. == Notes == {{#seo:|description=The blog post discusses the disastrous presidency of Trump, with the author regretting their earlier support for him.}} [[Category:Blog]]
